I hope you will have fun on my site.
The French girl below... what is her story?
The rescue of soldiers in Vietnam. Where did this scene happen? when was this?
Why do I paint on cotton?
Why do I use Everclear (yep, that's right - the stuff from the liquor store) for some of my paintings?
I try to have a story attached to each painting. So even if you don't make one of my originals or prints your own, you at least will have learned something. Just by visiting. And I hope this keeps you coming looking for a new picture and new story. I try to add an original at least once a week.
Ok then, enjoy your visit.
Meet James Day
I live in sunny central Florida and call Palm Bay Florida my home. I retired in 2020 after my wife of 48 years died from Inflammatory Breast Cancer.
I took up several interests to keep my mind active like music, reading, and cooking for others. I love to cook.
I love playing the drums and the flute. And I resurrected my love and interest in art.
Painting can be rewarding and very frustrating. After spending hours on a project that is doomed for failure I sometimes just want to walk away from all of it and catch myself rattling in my mind "I will never be good enough". Artists on the web (especially YouTube) have experienced these pangs of artistic defeat and generously share how they overcame feelings of giving up. If you take some time to wander through YouTube you will be amazed at how willing artists are to share their techniques and failures. They also share their own secrets for success. I wondered why they would do this. They come to know through experience and time that each artist will take the identical reference work and every one of them will arrive at a different and unique perspective reflected in their finished painting.
What else do you want to know about me or my watercolors?
Do you have suggestions for subject material? Let me know.

Yep.. I know the picture is not very good. I am working on it. Kind of a low priority right now. Maybe I should do a self portrait - like Van Gogh. (without cutting off my ear, of course)
